The Pritzker Architecture Prize:

Announcing the 2011 Laureate: Eduardo Souto de Moura (Portugal)

If you don’t know what the Pritzker prize is I will tell you that it’s the Nobel Prize of Architecture. People like: Oscar Niemeyer (1988), Tadao Ando (1995), Norman Foster (1999), Zaha Hadid (2004) or Jean Nouvel (2008) have won it. But this year the prize goes to Portugal, with Eduardo Souto de Moura.
Eduardo de Moura was born on Porto (Portugal) on July 25, 1952 and at 58 years of age he has won this prize, the biggest honor that an architect can have.
He has worked mainly in his native country, Portugal, basically in private house projects. All of us know about him since he designed the stadium of the Braga in 2004.
His architecture has a strong feeling with the forms and the context of the space. He used to play with wood, aluminium, and ceiling. All of it with minimalism style, because he always thinks that people will live in his buildings.
