SUMMER IS HERE....

Since I was a child of 12 years old I have never had a summer with 2 or 3 months holidays because I have played football and started training so soon. But this summer will be my summer! I said in another post that one important point in life is to have different experiences and this summer will be full of them. Disco, parties, people, traveling, job, music, sport, relaxing, beach, jumping from a plane in Empuriabrava, etc…

All of these will be exiting and this will prepare me for university.

After “batxillerat” (the most difficult thing I have ever do) I feel free and ready for new goals.

This is my summer, this is it, this is all, this is life!!!

30 SECONDS TO MARS

I have never spoken about my favorite music group called 30 Seconds to Mars in this blog. But it’s time to do it.

30 Seconds to Mars is a rock band from Los Angeles (USA) and they started in 1998. Their members are Tomo Milicevic (piano and guitar), Shannon Leto (drums) and his little brother Jared Leto (guitar and singer).

Jared Leto is a famous name in Hollywood because before he sang he was an actor in some films like Fight Club, Alexander, Mr. Nobody, etc. But he decided to turn up with new look, new style and new job as a singer. He’s an artist. He sings, composes the songs and designs the covers of 30stm’s CDs.

I love his music because it helps me a lot when I’m sad. Their lyrics are strong, powerful and shockingly true. Jared’s voice is also different from the others, because he has a peculiar scream and melody. Moreover his music has changed because at first they were a heavy-evil band and now he has a more music records. (Now he change his music in the last CD called This is War and I told you that it’s awesome).

Jared, Shannon and Tomo are 30seconds to mars, my favorite group, a group from another planet, the best band.

¿Is it really necessary to study today?

Two years ago a big crisis destroyed our system and a lot of people came up against being on the dole. This happening has made me go over our society from other points of view and cut out all those things that people accept like fools. One example of this is working in some job that you are sure that they will pay you and you aren’t worried about if it makes you happy or not: “it’s just a job, it’s just money” it’s sad. But I think about other options following Nietzsche’s steps I agree with that point of view that says “If you want a lot of happiness you have accept a lot of sadness”.

People study nowadays because they want to find stability in the future, and just follow the easy way: studyjob. But I’m looking for different life. I don’t need a house, a car, etc. If you think about what you really need, the real truth is that you just need food.

There are thousands of ways to get happiness, but we need to accept the sadness in our lives. Follow your feelings and not only the social conventions.

VALORATION OF MY BEST WORKS:

Best of 1st. Batx:

LINK: http://esteveporfolio.blogspot.com/2008/06/3st-oral-presentation-by-pep-esteve.html

That was my last Oral Presentation in 1st. Batx. And here I started to use different tenses, present simple, past simple and continuous, some conditionals, also simple connectors “for this reason”, “nowadays”, etc. However I spoke with short simple oration.

Best of 2nd. Batx:

LINK: http://esteveporfolio.blogspot.com/2011/05/dialogue-with-fisherman.html

Maybe the structure isn’t the best, but I’m proud of this work because I see real English in it. All our work at school is focused on this, in having a dialogue with an English speaker and it’s a true conversation. There is spontaneity, questions, different verb tenses, some little swear words, phrasal verbs, etc.
I know that this dialogue isn’t the best of all, but it’s full of dynamic and feeling. It’s like two people speaking in the street and showing this job is not a bed of roses.

MY OPINION AND PROGRESS:

First of all I can see the evidence of the vocabulary, the use of verbs and expressions. Some of my post was in present time because was easier for me, but now I can express my point of view and my ideas in the past, present and future reading and speaking helping my words in expressions like “as soon as”, some connectors like “first of all”, “ moreover”, “although”, “however”, etc. Also phrasal verbs that helped me a lot to express things that I can’t do with out them. One example: I saw that in my first my Oral presentation I used a scheme system, speaking in present. “Steps: 1- Design the project. 2- Draw some plans” but in my last presentation I said something like that: “First of all I designed some ideas and the next step was to draw plans of those ideas”.

My development is obvious in my pronunciation and my attitude towards it. I used to smile and become silent nervously like a fool but now I can do a spontaneous speaking playing with the verb tense.

BOOK: David Copperfield

I have been reading this book and I decided to do it because this Dicken’s novel was and is so famous (D. Copperfield the magician has nothing to do with this book).

When I stared it I thought that it would be like Oliver Twist, who was an orphan and his life was horrible, but no. This story is more romantic, more realistic, the typical person from those times. Maybe there are some parts parallel to history and some characters typical from novel: characters like the evil Mr. Heep, the lawyer.

David has different problems and difficulties like, working like a “slave when he was a child, running away from home, a new school, learning a job, folling in out of love. However finally he wins the true love of his bestfriend Agnes.

I recommended this book to everyone, if you read it you will grow up following David’s steps!

DIALOGUE WITH A FISHERMAN

P. Hello Sir. What’s your name? I’m Pep.
F. Hi young boy, I’m Paco Ferreria the boss of a big ship.
P. Oh! That’s nice because I’m looking for a fisherman to talk to him about his job.
F. well…talk to me young boy, my ship is the best of this area of Mediterranean sea.
P. I have heard you have one of the hardest job, is it true?
F. Yes!!!....the sea is dangerous, difficult and evil and it scares young people like you to come and work with us because this job is difficult to put up with. But as they say: the show must go on!!
P. Obviously, but it can also be debated if this job will be successful in the future or not because there are more and more restrictions from politicians, Green Peace, etc. Moreover I can see ships and boats from other areas that come here to steal your fish! That’s so bad for you.
F. Fuck them all! I told you that I’m the best this area. They come here, external organitzations also come to, as I see it, to kill our job and to “save” the sea, but we respect the sea, because if you don’t respect it you will pass away.
P. Ok Paco, but I’m late. Thank you for everything, I hope to see you again!
F. You are welcome, and next time I’ll buy you a beer young boy!!!

¿Osama death or alive?

Today the most waited news from the USA people becomes a reality, Osama Bin Laden has been killed in Pakistan.
Obama announced it today, day 2/5/2011. But there is a problem. Osama’s body hasn’t been seen and there isn’t proof this news is real. Why hasn’t the body gone to UUEE? Why aren’t there any photos? And where is the video? Is all this story true? Or is it just a plan of USA because the Islam war is becoming bigger and they can actue the military. Because remember that USA needs war to hold his economy, and with this new they can gain a lot of things like oil, money, weapons and a lot of power in the Arabian world.

JUDDI KRISHNAMURTI

One of my objectives with this blog is to exhibit new extraordinary people who the majority of us don’t know. One of the most shocking is a little old Indian called Krishnamurti.
When I listen to him it’s like angelic words, full of love words, like one of those minds that pass through his times and the story will be remembered in future generations. A radical change in humanity a mind with a message that I think people don’t understand yet.
He was on a beach when people from Theosophical Society saw something different from a single boy sitting and watching the other kinds playing football. That boy called Jiddu becomes a messiah for that society and he was educated in the best collages in India and England.
After university he travelled around the world talking about his message of peace and changed mind. A message that nowadays is difficult to accept because it is too pure for our mentality.

climate change:

AND IN 50 YEARS, IN A SINGLE LIFETIME, THE EARTH HAS BEEN MORE RADICALLY CHANGED THAN BY ALL PREVIOUS GENERATION OF HUMANITY:

This information shows the moral problem of our times. Humanity doesn’t respect even nature and this will be a problem for all of us.

Thousands of years ago humanity lived in connection with the earth, think about the old Greece that believed in Gods like nymphs of the forest. Ra, the God of sun in the old Egypt, or the God of river Nile. In Buddhism everything has a soul, a tree, a man, a river, etc. And the American Indians believed in the big mum earth and father sun. All of it disappeared with our civilization and now we pay the consequence. The nature needs respect.
If we don’t stop this rhythm we will destroy the earth and ourselves and our world which is too beautiful to be destroyed.

BOOKS

“Thus Spoke Zarathustra: a book for all and none” by F. Nietzsche

Nietzsche was one of the biggest genious of the las century, he designed a new modern moral far far away from religion. He pretends to change the world changing the moral of humanity. This work was too much for one man and finally Nietzsche went mad years before he was 50 years old.
I recommend his biggest work, a nice book colled “thus spoke Zarathustra” and Zarathustra is a ficticious part of Nietzsche. This book contains all his philosophy.

Basically this book talks about the death of God by men, the eternal recurrence, the “übermenssch”(superman) and the willpower.
His philosophies are focused on destroying the catholic compation and to build a new moral for humans. He wants strong men who follow his ideal and never falling into mediocrity. He pretends to overcome the men.

The Pritzker Architecture Prize:

Announcing the 2011 Laureate: Eduardo Souto de Moura (Portugal)

If you don’t know what the Pritzker prize is I will tell you that it’s the Nobel Prize of Architecture. People like: Oscar Niemeyer (1988), Tadao Ando (1995), Norman Foster (1999), Zaha Hadid (2004) or Jean Nouvel (2008) have won it. But this year the prize goes to Portugal, with Eduardo Souto de Moura.
Eduardo de Moura was born on Porto (Portugal) on July 25, 1952 and at 58 years of age he has won this prize, the biggest honor that an architect can have.
He has worked mainly in his native country, Portugal, basically in private house projects. All of us know about him since he designed the stadium of the Braga in 2004.
His architecture has a strong feeling with the forms and the context of the space. He used to play with wood, aluminium, and ceiling. All of it with minimalism style, because he always thinks that people will live in his buildings.

PERE GIFRE's art

He was born in Figueres in 1974 and he does ICONIK-ART.
His inspiration came from nature and with high-tech hardware he represents his ideas on the PC. After he has studied the structural part and all the engineering aspects. He does technological sculpture, and he’s in the vanguard of the new art.

Basically he represents the nature with sculpture after having gone through this nature on his computer and his structural concepts. Sculptures that take two years of hard work. Water, gases, movments, animals, explosions, etc. that is the amazing part of his work, because he represents that type of moments that the human eye cant’s see.

A good example is the amazing sculpture of a water splash from “La Expo de Zaragoza” or “Winds of Atlanta”, two big works of tones and twenty meters.

MY THEORY ABOUT HEAVEN AND HELL, WHY?

When children are bad, their parents talk about a strange man called bogeyman, who catches bad boys and puts them inside his bag. This bogyman is a technique used to prevent children from doing bad things. Well, when these children grow up and become adults the governments invent an idea of a God that can see them and all their bad actions and they will be judged by him at the end of their lives. This is the reason for religion.
At the end of religions hell doesn’t exist, this idea of hell started with the wars, because people who ran away from the battle or people who don’t help their “brothers” in the battle will be condemned with the most horrible of punishments.

Religions born to control the humanity and make people less animals. Religion was necessary but nowadays it’s time to be free and grow up together.

MY LETTER, the moral change of humanity

1, Plaça Central

Sant Onofre

17666

10 april 2001

Dear Mr. Ritch, I am writing in order to show you my point of view and how dangerous atomic power can be. First of all, Japan is the climax of our self destruction, and if this disaster help us open our minds to the new area of energies. I will be happy for all that people death, because their life has been used to change the world's history.

Nowadays we have the technology and the money, but not the hope to believe in these developing energies. Why? Because the most important is money…really? We need more death for change our minds? Another Chernobil? Children with problems caused by nuclear waste? All of us know that oil and nuclear power is the cheapest way, but one time in life a man has to do what he has to do, and now our obligation is change ourselves and look for new energies anf think for the future of our children and our planet.

At the end of all is necessary think in a change. YES WE CAN!! And please Mr. Ritch show us the correct way with your example.

Your sincerely.

DESCRIPTION OF A PERSON: CHRISTIAN IBARRA MUÑOZ

Christian was born in Figueres on 1st. August 1992. I met him 6 years ago because he plays football in the Esplais de Castelló and he went me to school with me. Nowadays he’s my schoolmate and we always laugh a lot and this description is a present for him.

First of all Christian is a teenager, at first you can see that he’s a normal boy. He is 1.70m tall and 70 kg more a less (the typical metrosexual). His had is big in proportion to his shoulders, his hair-style is punky because he says that it’s “cool”! Then there is his big fore-head, eye-brows that are perfectly symmetrical and brown eyes with a lazy look, a prominent eagle shaped nose, a woman’s mouth decorated with a pearcing on the left hand side. And finally with two ears that match with his perfect face (sorry ladies but he has girlfriend).

He’s a sportsman, he’s fibrous but without muscle volume. His hands are delicate. All round he has an appearance of pimp. He wears blazers (usually G-Star) with basic T-shirts also G-Star and always with cool jeans. And always he use sport Nike shoes.

As person he’s a nice guy: funny, amusing, distracted and fresh. He has problems for shooting his mouth off in class, and for this reason we laugh a lot. He’s so funny and if you have a problem he’s the type of person that you can be sure will help you.

ORAL PRESENTATION: HUT-HOUSE

PRESENTATION (9): In general I think the presentation was nice, because I focussed on my Project all the time. I had some problems with the PP. and finally my O. Presentation lasted 10 minutes and it was difficult.

BODY LANGUAGE (8.5): I tried to look at my viewers and also at my Power Point to show them what I was saying. Watching the video I can see that I seemed to be reading sometimes but I can remember that I never found the point that I wanted, so really I wasn’t reading. Another important point is that I look so nice.

STRUCTURE (10): I’m proud about the structure, it was in order and everybody could follow my oral presentation. And my power point helped me a lot. Moreover my conclusion was clear and showed my point of view.
CONTENT (40): The audience learnt new things about the architecture world and new vocabulary, because they told me.
LANGUAGE (14): This was the worst part because I improvised a lot in my exposition, depending on the interest of the audience. But the vocabulary was technical and I used some connectors like finally, first of all, etc. And a lot of fillers caused by the improvisation.
PRONUNCIATION (8,5): Everyone could understand me, but my pronunciation cold improve, especially with the technical words.
ORAL PRENSENTAION FINAL MARK: 9

Human rights are not respected

Nowadays the human rights are not respected absolutely, because a lot of countries use lows that don’t help them. Our world doesn’t accept these human rights yet, and the problem comes from the governments and the economy. On my point of view this two freaks are killing the human rights.

The biggest problem that human rights have is the governments, because the lows defense their own benefice and they always forget the freedom or their people. This happens because the governments need the control for following in the power and help to themselves.

The other way of the human rights is economy, companies need low-cost employees. If the human rights come true this type of will disappear, and the big companies like Nike, Adidas, Nokia, etc. will fall with them because the best point of these companies are the manufactories in Asia that is far far away from the human rights.

All in all, the human rights chock with our economy and that’s the reason because there isn’t interest in the way that the human rights come a reality. Only with a big change in our society and mentality the human rights comes true.

SPEAKING CORNER:

After speaking for an hour to Arunas and Visctor Rosillo in the speaking corner we talked about some topic:

Points of the dialoge:
- Victor Rosillo loves Justin Bieber!!
- GYM (good body) is important for summer!
- Arunas can't do push ups with one hand.
- Pep Esteve is the strongest in this group.
- Vistor pretends to be like CR7 (Cristiano Ronaldo), and Arunas like Victor Rosillo.
- All of us are caspers like the majority of the Spanish population.
- Arunas is the freakiest boy I have ever met!!!! (He doesn't know yet but he dances like an old robot).
- What could be done with these conclusions?
Concution:
We need to find a girlfriend!!!!

INDIVIDUAL COMENTS:

Myconclusion is that we serioulsy need a grildfrend because our minds are in danger of collapsing. We speak about GYM because maybe if we keep fit perhaps some girls will want to be our girldfrends.

¿Is St. Valentine’s day a commercial idea?

All of us know that companies used to create new holidays or parties focused only on the presents, Christmas has been changed from a religious day to a consumist day for example.

If I say: Christmas, St. Valentine, carnival, new year, etc. The first thing is go to a shop and buy something. And this conduct is influenced by the consumist mind of our education also influenced by the big companies.

I think that if I love somebody I don’t need a special day to buy a present to show my love. My view of life is so romantic and in my point of view plays with this feeling it’s the worst thing that a person can do, and when I listen something like this: “Oh, St. Valentine’s day, let’s go to buy something for my girlfriend”. I see that this person doesn’t show his feelings to his girl or that it’s stupid because he only shows these feelings when the society says that it is the time.

I hope that people will try to improve their feelings because nowadays people are so cold with all these topics of love.

Can you be romantic in the 21th. Century?

Can you be romantic in the 21th. Century?

Some months ago this question came into my head, and I thought strongly about this. I thought about my things and my acts, and finally I came to the conclusion that the answer was “yes” if you are prepared to suffer a lot of your dreaming about love. When I thought about this conclusion I realized that I was romantic.

In the book Pride and Prejudice I identified myself with Mr. Darcy, I liked him. We never show our feelings for that person, but I think a lot about her. This thing is a characteristic point of the Romantic Movement, the idealization of women loved and the fighting versus all those things or people that try to break our perfect love.

Nowadays we need sex, not love. But romantic people need something special with that person who we dream about. She is everything to us, and this is so difficult nowadays. A lot of lying, cheating, deceit and pain is what we find in the true life, outside of our ideal world that we dream about.

My ideals follow the steps of Lord Byron, Gustavo A. Bécquer, Victor Hugo, William Blake, etc.

Nobel Prize: LIU XIAOBO

This year the winner of the Nobel piece price was Liu Xiaobo, but the biggest news come from the situation of Liu. He has been in captivity with a sentence of 11 years in prison by the Chinese government because Liu Xiaobo fought for the human rights in a country with a dictatorship (in December 2008 Liu read his manifest “charter 08” that suggested a new political reform).

Now Liu Xiaobo is in prison, and he didn’t know that he was the winner of this prize for a long time. Only a month later his wife talked with him about this when she visited him in prison.
More problems come with the ceremony because China didn’t accept that Liu could go there to receive the prize, almost saying that the countries that were in favour of the nomination of Xiaobo would be considered China’s enemies.
FREE LIU XIAOBO!!!!

The most important discovery of the decade: "GRAPHENE"

The most important discovery of the decade: "GRAPHENE":

This year 2010 the Novel Price of physics went to Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov, two Russians both professors at Manchester University in England. They won the Novel Price because they discovered a new extraordinary material called Graphene (It comes from carbon, but it has a single thick atom and for this reason it is one of the strongest and hardest materials in this world).

Graphene will change the technological world, because now with this material we will be able to design and build extremely little computer chips at a low cost. Less cost and better loans.
This material will change our technology, medicine, buildings structures, etc. (Watch the video and see what will happen in a few years).

271 unknown painting by Pablo Picasso

Two news in one:

New works of Pablo Picasso under question
&
Picasso’s 271 items discovered in France

271 unknown painting by Pablo Picasso were discovered by an electrician in France (Pierre Le Guennec, 71 years old).
Pierre wrote to Picasso’s son, Clude Picasso asking him to authenticate the works of the notebook, 9 cubist collages and some paintings. This work cost about 60 million Euros.

Pierre Le Guennec had these paintings because they were a gift from Pablo Picasso in 1970, but the police confiscated the paintings because Claude Picasso said that his father never gave paintings as a present, and that Le Guennec had stolen the painting from his father.

I hope that all these paintings go to a museum!!!

Bullfighting in Spain

In Spain bull fighting is a tradition from centuries ago, but nowadays people like Greenpeace fight to stop this type of festival. They say that bulls suffer horrible things in front of the bullfighter, and that’s why currently the bulls are drugged.

On one hand we can think that the bulls are bred only for the bullfighting, and experts say that if the corridas disappear the Spanish bull will disappear too.

On the other hand there are the animal supporters who say that these festivals are too bloody.

Personally I defend the festival because I used to watch it with my great-grandmother when I was a little kid. But maybe it is too violent. I have a fight with myself about this topic.
